A Nigerian Youth Political Pressure group known as the Advocate for Collective Transformation (ACT),has said that the effect of bad leadership in the country cannot be compared to the ravaging Ebola Virus Disease,EVD.
ACT in its Independence Anniversary message signed by its National President Comrade, Oluwatayo Fashogbon and National Secretary, Isaac Ifetoluwa Ajayi saidthat if the veracity of energy employed to stop the spread of the Ebola disease in the country was extended to every sector of governance the country would be in a better place.
“With the way Ebola was battled out of Nigeria, our leaders should deploy such energy, interest and political will in rebuilding our country.”Ebola killed about 20 people in Nigeria, but bad leadership, corruption has killed hundreds of thousands since our independence in 1960.”
According to ACT, Nigerians particularly the youths are faced with various challenges ranging from acute unemployment, poverty, defective educational standards, lack of social welfare and in most cases total abandonment and systematic exclusion from all the commanding heights of governance in the affairs that border on Nigerian Youth interest.
” These trends must not be watched to continue in the new Independent year,Nigerian youths must rise to be heard in all issues affecting the country.”
The group said it would commensurate this year’s Independence Anniversary Celebrations with a mass peaceful Youth Rally on October 8 in the Yaba area of Lagos State,Nigeria.ACT said the rally is to sensitize Nigerian Youths on peaceful participation in electoral process ahead of the 2015 general elections.
The group said Youths must be enlightened on using their voting strength to position right leaders in government offices at all levels in Nigeria.
